When the former school was promoted and named National Taichung University of Education on August, 2005, the College of Education was founded at the same time.
Primarily, the purposes of this college includes training teachers for elementary school levels, academic personnel for researches on education, professional faculty in related to educational areas, and offering in-service training programs and continuing education with academic degrees to the formal teachers.
Due to the establishment of four new departments of management, this college was renamed the College of Education and Management on August, 2008. And then, the college of management formally separated into an independent college in 2010.This college was renamed as College of Education in 2011.
As a former chairman of The Graduate Institute of Educational Measurement and Statistics, Dr. Sheu Tian-Wei was appointed as the first dean of this college. Dr. Sheu is not only dedicated to achieving set up the rules, regulations, and systems of this college, but also held a highly valued researching team in order to promoting international exposure and academic abilities of education. Moreover, as a bridge between school diploma and social employment, in order to helping graduates finding suitable occupations, the college provides professional career consulting and University-Industry Cooperation for students, so they can communicate and share experiences with professionals in related fields.
This college consists of six departments or programs including the Department of Education, Department of Special Education, Department of Early Childhood Education, Department of Physical Education, Graduate Institute of Educational Information Measurement and Graduate Program of Teaching Professionalism.
